Subclass 870 ( sponsored parent) temporary visa: Allows Australian permanent residents or Australian citizens or eligible New Zealand citizens to sponsor and bring their parents for a period of up to five years with the possibility of visa renewal. Nonetheless, the person must not have held this visa for a period exceeding ten years.
What can you do:
Visa subclass 870 (temporary):
- stay in Australia up to 5 years
- work in Australia if you have permission from the Minister
- study in Australia
- travel outside Australia as many times as you want during the period of stay
- You may have some medical cover under a Reciprocal Health Care agreement
Note: Subclass 870 visa holders are required to maintain health insurance whilst in Australia as part of their visa conditions.
