The Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) provides a pathway for qualified professionals to permanently immigrate to Australia if nominated by a participating state or territory government. Applicants must have an occupation on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List or Short-Term Skilled Occupation List that meets the workforce needs of the nominating state or territory. To begin, applicants must submit an Expression of Interest and apply for state or territory government nomination. If Nomination is approved, applicants must wait for a formal invitation to apply from the Department of Home Affairs before proceeding. Each state and territory has specific nomination criteria and lists of in-demand occupations.
